You've got questions. We've got answers.
GLP-1 medications — including semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic) and tirzepatide (Zepbound, Mounjaro) — are injectable medicines given once a week to help with weight loss and metabolic health (blood sugars/cholesterol). They work by mimicking natural hormones in your body that control appetite and blood sugar, helping you feel full sooner and eat less. New studies are also showing these medications help lower inflammation.
At Changing Tides, we believe your body is capable of weight loss, but may need some instructions/reminder on how to do it. GLPs are a great tool to help your body reset and be able to let go of fat tissue by regulating insulin, decreasing inflammation, and regulating hunger signals.
Not everyone requires high dosing, many can get the results they are seeking with low/micro-dosing. The benefits of micro-dosing include fewer side effects and an easier time transitioning off.
With GLP-1 medications, roughly 25% to 40% of the weight you lose can come from lean body mass (which includes muscle). Preserving lean muscle required two key components: High Protein intake AND Resistance training. You will receive personalized protein goals and resistance/weight based training goals (generally 30 minutes 3x per week) to ensure your weight loss journey ends with a strong and lean body, not a weak skinny body.
Our office supplies you with 4 pre-filled syringes to self-inject at home. You will be trained on how to safely perform the injections and dispose of the needles.
Prior to your next month's GLP pick-up, you will complete an online form via our patient portal. This form allows our provider to ensure your dosing is appropriate, or if an increase or decrease is needed.
Body Composition readings are also completed every 3 months during your Appointment to review your weight loss and body composition.
We work closely with our compounding pharmacy to bring you the lowest prices on high-grade compounded Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. Prices start around $135, varying based on dosing.
